Overview:
This article outlines the process for filling in data for sample results to a template file for upload to the Klir platform.
When you are looking to have your sample results ingested into Klir, you may use this template to prepare sample results to be imported into Klir, whether from logging into Klir and manually importing this file, or for SFTP integration.
Most Klir customers work with internal/external labs to refine their files to match this format and ensure seamless integration into Klir.
Here are a few suggestions on why using the template file is important:
Ensures Accurate Data Ingestion: By correctly filling in the template file, you ensure that the sample results are accurately ingested into the Klir platform. This minimizes errors and inconsistencies in the data, which can impact downstream analysis and decision-making.
Streamlines Workflow: Standardizing the format for sample results allows for a seamless integration into Klir, whether done manually or via automated SFTP integration. This makes the process faster and more efficient, reducing the time spent on data entry or troubleshooting formatting issues.
Improves Data Consistency: Aligning sample data with Klir’s template ensures uniformity across all incoming data, which is crucial for maintaining consistency in reports, analytics, and system-wide data processing.
Facilitates Collaboration with Labs: Working with internal or external labs to ensure their files meet Klir's requirements helps maintain a collaborative and smooth relationship. Labs will better understand what is required, reducing the back-and-forth and improving data turnaround times.
Optimizes Integration with Klir: Whether importing data manually or using SFTP, a well-prepared template ensures the data will be uploaded to Klir without issues. This prevents delays in data processing and ensures that sample results are immediately available for analysis.
Steps to use the Sample Result Template
- Download the SFTP Sample Template here:
Sample Result SFTP Upload Template File - Review the “Read Me” tab if needed. This tab provides additional details such as if a value is required, has a maximum character length, a specific format, or accepted values that are needed.
- Please be sure to Copy the Sample Results Template located on the second tab to a new spreadsheet. Doing this will ensure that the data is uploaded successfully as the import process will only upload data from the first tab of a file if it has multiple tabs of information.
- Fill in all Required Fields: The template includes mandatory fields (as indicated with an asterisk and color-coded on the template) that must be populated for successful sample upload.
These fields include:
- Sample ID: ID field for individual Samples and results that should be a unique value.
- Facility ID (may be called PWS): This code identifies the system where the sample will be associated. It must be selected from a predefined list of available system codes in Klir.
- Monitoring Location ID: This ID specifies the location where the sample will be collected or monitored.
- Collected Date: Date when the Sample data was collected.
- Parameter: Value used to identify the compounds sampled.
- Received Date: Date when the Sample data was received.
- Result: Sample result data
- Unit of Measurement: Unit of measurement unit for the sample data (e.g., mg/L, µg/L, etc.).
5. Review the Data:
Double-check all fields in the template for accuracy.
Ensure all dates entered are in the correct format as defined by the platform. Any other format may cause errors during the upload process.
6. Upload the Template:
Once the template is filled out with the appropriate data, please follow the steps to upload the file using the Manual File Upload Process article.
Conclusion:
Following these steps will assist you in successfully uploading sample data to Klir via SFTP using the provided template.
