Overview: This article outlines the process for editing some information if needed after sample results are entered from the field or a lab.
Field Sample Result Process
Sample results taken in the field (Data Source = Field) may be edited after the results have been entered. However, please note that only certain fields in the sample result can be modified.
* Sample result data can only be edited in a Field Sample result. Lab Sample Results cannot be edited.
In certain situations, the Sub Task where sample results were applied may be in a Closed status. If the Sub Task is closed, the Edit option (accessed via the 3-dot menu in the Sample Result details page mentioned below) will not be available.
To make edits to sample results, the related Sub Task must be reopened. Doing this enables the ability to edit sample results and associated data.
After the edits are made and saved, the Sub Task can then be closed again.
Steps to Edit Field Sample Results:
- Re-open the Sub Task the Sample Result has been entered in if the status is showing as “Closed”.

- Locate the Sub Task the edited sample result is entered in and change the status back to “Closed” if needed.
Lab Sample Result Process
Lab sample results (Data Source = Lab) do not have the option to edit the sample result data itself. Only certain sections related to the analysis and sample info can be updated.
Note: Lab Sample Results cannot have the Sample Result options (Results, Units) edited. This is intentional, as any lab data should be modified in the source of truth first and then reimported if needed to correct any errors.
Steps to Edit Lab Sample Results:
- Locate the Sample Result:
- Navigate to the All Sample Results page.
-
- Find the lab sample result you wish to edit.
