What types of notifications does Klir send?

A breakdown of all notification types and what triggers them

Our platform keeps you informed with timely notifications across tasks, compliance, permits, external programs, and system activity. Below is a breakdown of the different types of notifications you may receive and what they mean.

Task Management Notifications

Stay on top of your work with updates and reminders related to tasks:

  • Task Updates
    Receive alerts when a task is assigned, updated, closed, or when its due date is approaching or overdue.
  • Task Summaries
    Get “Upcoming Work” emails summarizing tasks due within the next two weeks or month.
  • Bulk Update Warnings
    Be notified if a bulk task update fails due to permissions, status conflicts, or task dependencies.

Compliance & Violations

Keep track of compliance activities and required actions:

  • Record Updates
    Owners receive in-app and email notifications when an Issue or Violation is created, updated, reopened, or reassigned.
  • Weekly Summaries
    Every Monday, receive a summary of open violations, overdue actions, and actions due in the coming week or month.
  • Limit Exceedances
    Get real-time alerts when sample results exceed regulatory permit limits, whether based on individual results or calculated averages.
  • Corrective Actions
    Notifications are sent to relevant department users when State-Directed Corrective Actions need to be implemented.

Permits & Surcharges

Stay informed about permit status and billing updates:

  • Permit Expirations
    Receive summary emails highlighting permits that will expire in 1, 3, 6, or 9 months.
  • Weekly Permit Status
    Get a weekly snapshot of all discharge permits, organized by status (e.g., In Progress, Active, Expiring Soon, Expired).
  • New & Renewal Permits
    Primary contacts are notified when a new permit is issued or when an annual renewal is required.
  • Surcharge Notices
    Customers receive automated emails outlining calculated or default surcharge billing factors and associated amounts.

External Programs (Water Protection & FOG)

Manage external program requirements with automated reminders and updates:

  • Water Protection Tests
    Receive reminders for upcoming tests, results notifications (pass/fail), and overdue notices. Emails may include PDF attachments, such as authorized technician details.
  • Pump-outs
    Get reminders ahead of scheduled grease trap or interceptor pump-outs, along with overdue and cancellation notifications.

System Access, Data & Collaboration

Stay connected and informed about system activity and collaboration:

  • Comment Mentions
    Receive alerts when you are @mentioned in a comment.
  • Portal Access
    New and existing users receive welcome emails, password reset links, and two-factor authentication (2FA) codes via email or SMS.
  • Data Imports
    Be notified when a file import or data transfer is completed, including alerts for any validation errors.
  • New Users
    System alerts are generated when a new user registers.
  • Payments
    Users receive email confirmations and receipts with transaction details after completing payments in the external portal.
