Service Providers: How to Create Them (in two parts)

Part A: Creating the business as customer 


Step 1: Navigate to Customers

  1. Go to Community → Customers.

  2. Click + Contact.


Step 2: Add a New Customer

  1. Select Non-Domestic Customer.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Select the applicable program (if none apply, skip this step and click Next).

  4. Check the Service Provider box.

  5. Select the appropriate Service Provider.

Step 3: Enter Customer Details

Complete the following fields:

  • Corporate Name

  • Business Owner

  • Operating Name

  • Account ID (often provided by the Utility’s Accounting department)

Click Next.


Step 4: Add Primary Contact Information

Provide the main customer contact details:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email

  • Role

  • Phone Number

  • Cell Phone Number

Then enter the customer’s address:

  • Address Name

  • Address Line 1

  • Address Line 2 (if applicable)

  • City

  • State/Province

  • Country

  • Zip/Postal Code

  • Latitude

  • Longitude

Click Next.


Step 5: Add Billing Information

Fill in the Billing Address fields.


Step 6: Add Additional Details

Provide any additional details required.

Step 7: Save

Click Save to complete the process.





Part B: Creating the tester (who is an employee of a business). 


Step 1: Navigate to Service Provider (business) 

  1. From the main menu, go to Community → Find your Service Provide (business) → Contacts.

  2. Select the Contacts tab.

  3. Click + Contact.

Step 2: Create a New Contact

Fill in the required details for your new Service Provider:

  • First Name – enter any name of your choosing

  • Last Name – enter any name of your choosing

  • Email – use an email address you can access 
  • Type of Technician – select Tester

Next, choose the types of tests this Tester should be able to perform:

  • Backflow Tester

  • Hydrant Tester

  • Cross-Connection Tester

Click Create to save the new Service Provider.

Step 3: View Service Providers

  1. Navigate to Contacts → Service Provider List.

  2. In the Type of Tester dropdown, select Tester.

  3. Click Apply.
